WINNER of ‘A Brush with Fame’ live Portrait Painting Challenge 2017
George Boyter hails from the little fishing village of Pittenweem in the East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. It is now home to the internationally acclaimed Pittenweem Arts Festival.
He studied Drawing and Painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, learning Drawing under Bill Cadenhead and painting from James Morrison and Peter Collins.
Thereafter he embarked on an award-winning career as a creative director in advertising in London. He now lives in Oxfordshire.
He has studied watercolour under Alvaro Castagnet, the Uruguyan master.
He specializes in watercolour landscapes, life drawing, portraits and oils, has completed several large commissions and has been appointed Artist-in-Residence for Berkley Care Group.
To publicise Bucks Open Studios fortnight in May 2017, George was invited to take part in the Portrait Painting Challenge ‘A Brush With Fame’ which took place in Milton Keynes. 30 artists were allocated one of 5 TV celebrities and each artist had 4 hours to create a portrait.
George’s drawing and watercolour of well-known actor Clive Mantle was adjudged to be the overall winner.
During the Bucks Open Studios fortnight he is exhibiting at The Stable Door Studios in Finmere, near Bicester.
